Paula’s House provides a positive homelike environment for women who are homeless and have substance abuse problems, a place for them to live in a safe environment and face their addictions while learning how to life a sober lifestyle.

What is Paula's House?

A positive homelike environment for women who are homeless and have substance abuse problems. The primary goal is for women to live in a safe environment and face their addictions while living a sober lifestyle.

Provisions

Each resident has their own individualized personal goal plan focusing on recovery and self improvement. During their stays, women will be educated on living sober, anger management, coping skills, problem solving, nutrition, relapse prevention, medical effects of addiction, parenting skills, rational emotive behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy. Community resources will be provided offsite.

Origins

Paula’s House opened on September 11, 2004 and is the first project for Women Empowering Women, Inc. It is based upon the Positive Choices four-phase program designed for women who have substance abuse issues, who are homeless, and who are possibly on probation or parole for non-violent offenses. The program is designed to last 1–2 years and has 24-hour staffing.
